# Using ASQ with Your EHR System

With the widespread use of electronic health records (EHRs), many health care providers have a need to integrate ASQ®-3 and ASQ®:SE-2 into their systems. Explore the options for your practice below, and [**contact us**](https://agesandstages.com/contact-us/) with any questions!

#### Want to share this page? Access a [**downloadable, print-ready PDF here.**](https://agesandstages.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Using-ASQ-with-Your-EHR-System_2023.pdf)

### Option 1: Record ASQ results in your EHR

In many practices, parents complete questionnaires on paper and the results need to be manually recorded in the EHR system. Your practice can choose to:

- Scan completed ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 Information Summary Sheets and attach them to a child’s record
- Enter ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 results, scores, and/or item responses into fields in a child’s record

### Option 2: Link ASQ Online to your EHR

ASQ Online provides efficient data management, online questionnaire completion, and powerful reporting functionality. If your practice subscribes to ASQ Online, you can link the system to your EHR in two ways:

- Automated transfer of data between systems with Application Programming Interface (API). [**View information and pricing here.**](http://www.agesandstages.com/asq-online-api)
- Manual export of ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 scores from ASQ Online and import into EHR via .csv files using matching child identification fields

### Option 3: Use ASQ within a system that integrates with your EHR

ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 are incorporated into several pediatric systems that can be linked to your EHR. Your practice can use ASQ questionnaires electronically with a subscription to:

[**CHADIS®**](http://www.site.chadis.com/), the Comprehensive Health and Development Interactive System, a web-based screening, diagnosis, and management system. CHADIS offers web-based ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 questionnaire completion (in English and Spanish, with more languages coming soon), automatic questionnaire scoring, and time-based graphical displays.

**[CheckinAsyst®](https://bit.ly/3JOJaky),** a digital patient intake and communication platform from HealthAsyst. Pediatric practices can digitally administer ASQ-3 based on the child’s age and premature birth conditions. CheckinAsyst scores the patient data and interprets the development level automatically. The platform also sends child data to the EHR and offers detailed reports for providers to monitor critical metrics easily.

[**Phreesia**](http://www.phreesia.com/asq3), which offers automated tools for intake, scheduling, payments, clinical support, and more. Pediatric practices can use Phreesia’s intake platform to electronically administer the ASQ-3 (in English and Spanish). Scores are automatically calculated and exported via PDF into patients’ electronic health records for better screening reliability and consistency.

[**Patient Tools® (PTI)**](http://www.patienttools.com/), an enterprise solution for electronic patient interviews for all age groups and specialties. PTI offers tablet (e.g., iPad, Android) and web-based ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 questionnaire completion (in English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali), plus scoring, trending across ASQ age groups, and in-depth reporting in real time.

Contact each of these systems directly for information about their integration options.

### Option \#4: License ASQ for inside your patient portal

Some practices want parents to complete questionnaires electronically through their EHR system (e.g., MyChart in Epic). To inquire about licensing the right to build ASQ questionnaire content into your EHR system, contact our Rights department at [rights@brookespublishing.com](mailto:rights@brookespublishing.com). Pricing varies based on the amount of content being licensed, practice size, planned functionality, and other factors.

#### What ASQ Users are Saying

“ **We chose ASQ because it is easy to do, low cost, culturally sensitive, and it meets our purpose of basic screening for our children’s development.** Our infant teachers base their curriculum on each individual child based on the ASQ.”
